Congratulations Are In Order…

usa-rainbow-2SCOTUS took a wise decision because ‘All men are created equal’

Thomas Jefferson first used the phrase in the U.S. Declaration of Independence, which he penned in 1776 during the beginning of the American Revolution.

    1. In more ways then one. First Obama-care and then Friday marriage for all.

Just wondering how many pastors have put themselfs on fire, or how many divorces we’ll see in the future from all those people who said that beforehand.

  1. Help us out – The Netherlands has had gay marriage for some years – did God smite you down as the Fundies predict for here?

    1. Gay marriage started officially on April 1, 2001. Before that time we had registered partnerships. No, G*d or any other deity didn’t smite us.

There’s separation of church and state in our country. When one gets married it’s first for a legal document from the state, if you want a church marriage as well, than you have to do it after the legal documents are signed. A wedding in a church without the legal documents is void.

Churches in the Netherlands have felt the wrath of their one-line thinking, especially the Roman Catholics. Less and less people go to worship, they make up their own mind instead of listening to some old man in Rome. Same goes for the protestants or people in Bible-belt communities. (Yes, in our small country we have some belts too!)

  2. an update – no one has set themselves on fire, or left the country, so their words were hollow. str8 marriages have not dissolved into the ether (mine certainly hasn’t). we have not had floods/earthquakes/fires/volcanos erupting since marriage equality was passed.

“When one gets married it’s first for a legal document from the state, if you want a church marriage as well, than you have to do it after the legal documents are signed. A wedding in a church without the legal documents is void.” – as it is here also. churches suck.

the old man in rome is coming to philadelphia in september. OMB, such a to-do over nothing! authority wants to make my city into some plastic bubble where only a select few are allowed in and everyone else MUST stay locked inside their homes OR ELSE.

  3. As Pope John Paul II kisses the runway (May 10, 1980) on airport Welschap near Eindhoven, the reception he receives is already against him. Hysterical scenes, crowds of onlookers jostling behind fences – none of that – even though sometimes it seems like there is more security people circling around the popemobile then there are spectators standing behind the fences. To make matters worse protesters shout everywhere: “Pope go home!” An absolute low is when riots start in Utrecht on May 12, the second day of his visit.

Also during his visit, people turn their back on him when the popemobile drives past. One of his bishops started it all, Mgr Gijzen was against GLBT people, in 1976 he said something to the masses, which resulted in what is now called ‘Pink Saturday’. (Just before his death they found out Gijzen molested boys in the seminary sleeping halls)

In all we now have a Pink Saturday, a festive day of protests, Pink Monday in Tilburg, on the biggest Fair in Europe and Pink Wednesday in Nijmegen where drag queens meet and flock the streets. And all of it before Pride.
