A Summer Night At The Opera #2

We arrived 15 minutes before the concert started. The field was not overcrowded yet, so we set up the chair for Mario, I brought the scooter so my seat was ready since I left home. The first bottles of white wine were opened, some cheese eaten, during which the commercials from the sponsors were shown on the screen.

When the program started mezzo-soprano Tania Kross was a bit late on the stage, she thought the performance was at Flevopark instead of the Concertgebouw. So on stage she had to change her sneakers to high heels while singing the duet from Rosina and Figaro [Dunque io son… tu non m’inganni?] from Il barbiere di Siviglia.

Other duets were from Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutti, Bach’s Johannes Passion, Bizet´s Les pecheurs de perles.

Before we knew it it was two hours later and the evening was over. I hope the city, our own music temple `The Concertgebouw´ and the sponsors make a tradition of this music fest.

Oh well… on Friday the Grachten Festival starts
