Sean @ Just A Jeep Guy has a weekly TMI list, normally I don’t fill them in but think about them. This time I don’t have to think about them but give you the answers as they are to me.
1. eBooks or real books? If an eBook: Kindle, Nook or other?
Real books if they have photos in them, like cookbooks, or books on art, history, architecture. I used to have a Sony e-reader, but do now have a Kindle DX [large screen]
2. Which book are you currently reading?
A real book by Dutch author Almar Otten, Blauw goud [translates into Blue Gold] a historical thriller. I normally read only in English since the choice in books is larger, except for my daily newspaper and one TV guide. The other TV guide is in English and is the Radio Times from the BBC.
3. How many books have you read in 2012? How has reading blogs, FB, and/or tweeting affected your book reading?
I read approx a book a week, so that would be 33. There are still some 150 titles on my Kindle, and most of the Kindle titles I’ve got in PDF as well. When it’s offered to download both systems for the same price I’ll take that opportunity. Gay books on PDF go on a disc to the special collection [IHLIA] of the Public Library Amsterdam.
I mostly read in bed before I go to sleep, if I’m really into the book it can take hours before the lights goes off. For hospital visits I always take the Kindle with me, gives me something to do between appointments or when you have to wait till the next specialist walks in to your cubicle.
I do still read blogs or post on FB, but other work [not reading] can come in between those things, so sometimes I’m a few days late with a comment.
4. What genre(s) of book do you enjoy reading?
Historical fiction, fiction, social drama, crime and adventure, travel, M/M romance
5. Have you read the Kama Sutra or The Joy of Sex? Helpful?
I have The Joy of Gay Sex on the shelf, I’ve read parts of it, now I need a partner to do some of those things.
Bonus
What was the first erotic novel you read that matched your sexual orientation?
Harry Chess, and that’s a comic book! The Uncensored Adventures of Harry Chess: That Man from A.U.N.T.I.E. [Agents Undercover Network To Investigate Evil.] Later Harry Chess joined FUGG [Federal Undercover Gay Goodguys]; most of the episodes were later published in the Gay Meatmen series by Winston Leyland.
That’s a lot of reading! I’m impressed by the DX it’s becoming very popular over here for text books. I totally agree about buy paper books for cooking and photos but other than that, I don’t miss paper books. Thanks for participating!
I love books, period. I have not read Karma Sutra, but am willing to do so !
