Yesterday evening I and some twenty other PinkNoord members visited the Dutch version of “Zanna Don’t”, a Musical Fairy Tale. The M-Lab theater was sold out, they even sold more tickets than they had seats [!]. [Just pull up extra seats from the bar]
The casting for the play was done very good, and these young people are good enough IMHO to hit the theaters in big towns. Okay, sometimes the life music was a bit too loud so you couldn’t hear the text of the songs, but the overall performance was well executed.
In short it has this theme: Welcome to Heartsville High, set in a world where everyone is gay–well, almost everyone! The big-man-on-campus is the chess champion, and the captain of the football team is made cool by being cast as the lead in the school musical. The students write a controversial show called “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” about straight people in the military, which becomes the catalyst for a young man and woman to fall in love. Enter Zanna, a magical, musical fairy who, with a wave of his wand, brings true love to one and all!
In Amsterdam the musical plays till June 25 at M-Lab

It sure sounds like fun. I don’t suppose it will ever make it to Sevilla.
