I was so close but still so far away. I saw Neuschwanstein Castle from a distance of 200 feet / 60 meters, not length but hight. I drove up to it in a carriage with horses, and then still had to walk up the mountain for another 250 feet, Pulling myself together I walked up the steep hill, but became totally out of breath and my heart beating as an insane king, so I turned around and went to the nearest restaurant to catch my breath and drink a cup of coffee and eat a piece of cheesecake. [I know comfort food].
Afterwards I took another buggy down the mountain. The people who went up all the way told me they were directed like cattle through the castle, up the stairs on one side down some other ones at the other. And… taking pictures was prohibited. So the photos you see here I found on the internet.
I had a broth as a starter and broiled salmon for lunch, and dessert of course. The rest of the day had to be shortened because we ran out of time. I have no interest in insurance for tailors, or the workshop ”How To Stay Fit”, they should have started with that one.
Now I need a beer or two, and a Russe [Shandy] and some food to stay sane.
At first, I thought you had posted a photo of your apartment.
Yeah, if I had to be herded around like cattle, I don’t think I would have enjoyed it either. Plus, touring works my nerves anyway!

The found photos are beautiful and I think what you did was much more pleasant. Cheesecake and a cup of coffee sound much better than being treated like a cow!
Don’t worry; it will be there next year.
I often wondered why photos were a no-no (other than damage done by using flash) and finally found out they would rather you purchase their “stock” photo packet, instead. All that work to see a place and the herding bit would have made me a bit salty, too.
