Today’s store is Patisserie Holtkamp on Vijzelgracht 15, I’m not going to this place for cookies or cakes, but just for their croquettes. And especially their shrimp croquettes!
Allas they don’t serve it with deep fried parsley as they do on the Belgium coast. Also their mini lobster croquettes are delicious.
In this Pop and Mum store they used to make pralines for two days, then two days of croquettes, before they switched back to two days of cookie and cake baking. Nowadays their croquettes come from a separate location in Amsterdam, because they don’t sell it only on their own location but also sell them all over town in hotels and restaurants.
Another thing I like about this small store is its decoration, it’s turning back in time to the 20′s and 30′s of the last century when you step over the treshold.
