2012

On this side of the Atlantic it’s already 2012. Hope you all have a great year, prosperous in any way.

In the mean time, during a financial crisis, over 65 million euros worth have gone up in smoke, fireworks that is, in the Netherlands alone. That’s a few million less than last year. Just as all the years before that I didn’t waste money on it, we have Chinese people living in the building who are taking care of it with an hour-long show. [Yes, you can call me cheap, but I'm Dutch!] It’s a bit strange but on Chinese New Year they never use fireworks.

Each country has its traditions, ours is eating Dutch donuts, and drinking champagne or other alcoholics. While the fireworks take care of chasing bad ghosts away, too much alcohol… you know the rest.

Oh… do you know what’s also healthy?…

Very quiet evening for me too. No fireworks over here. I’ll be in bed by 10:30! Woo-Hoo! :)
May 2012 bring stunning revelations and miracles on your way.

    Yes, happy new year !

  6. Ooh, I’ve never had a Dutch donut. Will have to try that next New Year’s Eve! I love the cartoon. I have an acquaintance who consumes enough alcohol each day to sterilize a hospital ward; but he doesn’t add salt to his food because “it’s very unhealthy.”

Wishing you a very “healthy” 2012!
