Atlas van Fouquet

The Atlas arrived last Saturday, while Corrie and I were shopping on the Lindengracht market. Corrie’s Mum [and Dad] live in between us and they collected the package from the mailman. Scanning the pictures from the Atlas will be hard, they’re too big for the scanner [34,5 x 45cm / 13,8 x 18 inch]. So I’ll try to take pictures of them and make a photograph of the same area as it looks today, approx. 250 years later. Of course with a corresponding text of the history.

BTW, Pierre Fouquet Jr wasn’t the one who made the etchings, he was just the publisher. The original etchings are all in black and white, but I’ve seen [online] also colored ones, hand-painted in with water colors, like the one above. You can click to embig them.
