4 Bean Salad

Four Bean Salad
Makes 6 servings
Shopping List:
- 425 gram or 1 (15 ounce) can green beans
- 115 gram ¼ pound wax beans*
- 425 gram or 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 425 gram or 1 (15 ounce) can chick-peas [garbanzo beans], drained and rinsed
- 1 red onion, sliced into thin rings
- 40 gram or 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 40 ml or 2½ tablespoons distilled white vinegar
- 20 ml or 1½ tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 gram or 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 gram or 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 0.5 gram or 1/8 teaspoon celery seed
TO MAKE:
- Mix together green beans, wax beans, kidney beans, chick-peas [garbanzo beans], onion, sugar, vinegar, vegetable oil, salt, pepper, and celery seed.
- Let set in refrigerator for at least 12 hours.
*Wax beans: These are similar to green beans except for the color, which can be yellow or purple. Don’t confuse these with lima beans, which are sometimes called wax beans. Substitute: green bean [different color]
